Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve (DHR) was established in 1983 (2039 B.S) with an area of 1325 km2 and was gazetted in 1987. It is currently located in province number 4 and 5 covering different part of Rukum (60%), Baglung (26%) and Maygdi (14%) districts. It is suitated in Dhaulagiri Himal Range.
The proposed buffer zone of DHR consists of the population of over 24,472 spread over part of 53 settlements of Baglung, Myagdi and Rukum district. The Initial Environmental Examination (IEE) report has been carried out based on the draft Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve and Proposed Buffer Zone Management plan (074/075-078/079). The Terms of Reference(ToR) is going to on approval process in DNPWC.
